Your Accounting Firm's Operations Are Training Data AI Labs Will Pay For

Every engagement your firm has ever run followed a workflow — intake, document collection, preparation, review, delivery, billing. Repeated across hundreds or thousands of clients and years of tax seasons, those workflows become something AI labs actively buy: a real record of how professional financial work actually gets done.

Through Mode Inc's business data program, established accounting and finance firms license an agreed copy of their de-identified operational records, keep their originals, and get paid. Mode's published program range is $100K–$5M per company, determined by Mode's review.

What Makes a Firm's Operational Record Valuable

  • Engagement workflows — the full path an engagement travels: onboarding, document requests and collection, preparation, internal review, sign-off, delivery
  • Seasonal cycles — few industries have operational rhythms as pronounced as accounting. Tax season surges, monthly close cycles, quarterly filings, year-end — repeated year after year, that pattern data is rare and hard to fake
  • Review processes — how work is checked, corrected, and approved is exactly the kind of professional judgment sequence AI systems are being trained to understand

What's licensed is the firm's operating record — how the work moves. It is de-identified, and the scope is agreed with Mode before anything is exported.

The Longer You've Operated, the Deeper the Record

One tax season is a snapshot. Ten tax seasons — across changing rules, changing software, growing client counts — is a longitudinal record of how a real firm adapts and delivers. Firms with several years of operating history in their practice management, document, and workflow systems are holding precisely the depth this program pays for. You built it by doing the work. Licensing it requires building nothing new.

A License, Not a Handover

  • Your originals stay in your systems — your team keeps working in them daily, unchanged
  • Mode licenses an agreed, de-identified copy of operational records
  • Scope is agreed in writing before export — your firm reviews and approves what is included

Who Qualifies

Mode's published eligibility for the program:

  • Accounting and finance firms: 15 or more employees
  • Located in the US, Canada, UK, or Australia
  • An established firm — several years of operating records strengthens fit

Below that threshold, the affiliate door below still lets individual partners and staff participate.

How the Process Works

Apply → Review → LOI → Agree & Export → Deliver → Get Paid

Mode states a timeline of roughly 3 months from the first conversation to payment — their stated process timeline, with the actual pace set by the review and the scope your firm agrees.

FAQ

Is client financial data what's being sold?

No. What's licensed is your firm's operational record — engagement workflows, document-collection processes, review sequences, seasonal operations — de-identified and limited to a scope your firm agrees with Mode before any export. Client confidentiality is a legitimate question to put directly to Mode during the review, and firms should have their own advisors read the agreement. The firm defines the scope; nothing moves outside it.

Does our seasonality hurt or help?

It helps. Predictable, repeated cycles — busy season, monthly closes, recurring compliance deadlines — are a large part of what makes an accounting firm's operational record valuable as training data. The pattern across years is the asset.

How much will our firm receive?

Mode's published program range is $100K–$5M per company. Placement in that range comes out of Mode's review: firm size, years and depth of records, and systems in use. Any figure quoted before that review would be a guess, and this page won't guess.

what drives your company's range

Will this disrupt our workflow or busy season?

The program licenses a copy of records that already exist — your originals and your day-to-day systems stay exactly as they are. The staged process (review, agreement, then export) is where scheduling gets worked out with Mode.

What does participation cost the firm?

Nothing for the review. Mode pays the company for the license. If a FiftyKPlug affiliate introduced your firm, their referral fee is paid by Mode — never deducted from your firm and never billed to you.

Two Doors at 50KPLUG.COM

Door 1 — Check if your firm qualifies.

Accounting and finance firms with 15+ employees and an established operating history can run the free qualification check. Mode handles the review.

Door 2 — Join as an affiliate, free.

Firms outside the size threshold — and individual CPAs, partners, and staff — can join free and earn referral fees under Mode's published program terms by introducing qualifying companies. The fee is paid by Mode, never by the company.
